Favorite Story
One of the story I like that we read recently in the book is The Silver 50 Sen Pieces. This is kind of a sad story. Yoshiko, a 17 year old girl living in pre-WW2 Japan leads a simple life. One day, she visits a bargain basement with her mother. They found an umbrella that they want to buy for “someone” but when they finally push through the crowd, she finds that there are no umbrellas left. After seven years, in 1946 (for them), Yoshiko is living in poverty in Tokyo, her mother died in a firebombing and her house have all burned down. Yoshiko regrets that she didn't buy the umbrella for her mother. I like this story because it really touched me. It made me learn a lesson than we should all cherish every moment and everything we have.
